PomAROS
AROS for Apple Silicon

AROS, at home on your Mac.

PomAROS brings AROS, the open-source operating system in the AmigaOS tradition, to Apple Silicon. Run it today in a macOS window or a virtual machine. Soon, on the bare metal of your M1.

Coming soon - PomAROS native

No macOS underneath.

On our MacBook Air, AROS starts from the Apple startup picker, right next to macOS, and drives the machine on its own.

Native PomAROS is being tested by a small group first. When it is ready for more people, it will be announced here and in the news feed.

PomAROS QEMU

The same AROS guest under QEMU, hardware-accelerated, for those who already live in QEMU.

The name

Pomme, in French, is an apple.

PomAROS is AROS grown for the Mac: the operating system that carries the Amiga spirit forward, fast, small and open, now on the computers people have on their desks.

AROS is a free, portable operating system compatible with the AmigaOS 3.1 programming interfaces. It boots in seconds, fits in a few hundred megabytes and keeps a whole machine understandable by one person.

PomAROS packages it for Apple Silicon, shares everything it can with the AROS project, and documents what it learns along the way.
